Three Phase Catalytic Hydrogenation in Falling Film Microreactor
Stavárek, Petr ; de Bellefon, C.
This study is dedicated to experimental study and modeling of the Falling Film Microreactor Large (FFMR-Large) which has been developed by the Institut für Mikrotechnik in Mainz (IMM). FFMR-Large was tested by performing catalytic hydrogenation of nitrobenzene on Pd/Al2O3 wall coated catalyst to give information about overall reactor performance. The effect of different operation conditions as pressure and liquid feed rate was studied. The reactor performance is compared with results of reactor mathematical model, and results of nitrobenzene hydrogenation in FFMR-Standard published in literature. Reactor modeling is focused on three possible operating regimes with different rate limiting step: 1. chemical reaction is rate limiting, 2. hydrogen diffusion in liquid film is rate limiting and 3. competitive hydrogen diffusion and chemical reaction control.
In-situ Modeling of Gas Transport in the Underground Coal Gasification Process
Soukup, Karel ; Schneider, Petr ; Rogut, J. ; Stanczyk, K. ; Šolcová, Olga
Our study is focused on the influence of the kind of the transported gases, temperature, pressure and transport-pore size. We have modeled transport processes based on knowledge of the real structure characteristics of stratum samples in order to evaluate the significance of the individual processes and their possible consequences.
CFD Simulation of Hydrogen Production by Biomass Partial Oxidation
Tukač, V. ; Hanika, Jiří ; Veselý, Václav ; Lederer, J. ; Kovač, D. ; Nečesaný, F.
Nowadays hydrogen demand caused by deep fuel refining and the other sustainable processes leads to utilization of new raw materials. Simultaneously, extensive biodiesel production creates great amount of biomass wastes transcendent over feeding potential of farm animals. One of potentially useful process of hydrogen production from renewable natural sources seems to be partial oxidation (POX) and gasification of biomass material like rape meal from rape oil production and/or distillery slop originated from bioethanol. The goal of this work was to develop simulation models of pilot POX reactor working with mixture of fuel oil and biomass.
